Hokkien HonorificsIn east asian culture, we have culture of addressing someone by using honorifics. If you have uncle or aunty, you are expected to address them by using certain honorific which could describe your relation to him/her. This is similar to Batak culture, each persons are assigned with certain honorific depending your relation to him/her by your parent. I honestly think it's very complicated, imagine if you are invited in big family gathering, you meet a new member from your long distant relative, you trace your relationship with him/her first.
