I  have my own blog backup stored in my laptop (using a cool program called XAMPP, you could install your wordpress blog in your pc/laptop. I will make a tutorial later.), but checking the entire site is time-consuming, considering I have more than 248 posts.

I would be really thankful if you could spot any error/missing content in my blog. It’s pretty stressful job, I spend about 3-6 hours during my last weekend to check all the posts indivually.

Because I have a guest book page in this blog, I decided to look what went wrong in the theme, and I found out by some unapparent reason, this theme removes the function to call comment. I’m pretty sure some of you might also experience this, there are some themes where comments are not enabled.
I’m not php expert, so I just compare the difference between the page template of this theme with other themes which have the comments enabled by default. It’s actually very simple.

If you happen to find pages without comment, open your page.php just take a look at this line:

In normal themes, there should be function to call “comments”, but for some reason, it’s not present in my current theme, so all we need is, adding a function between these line, so it will be looked like this:

<?php endwhile; ?>

Dont ask me what php endif or php endwhile mean, I’m still blind to these php language. I have plan to take web design class, but due time constraint, I couldnt do it for the moment.

Anyway, I hope this tips useful, if you are gonna move from wordpress.com to self-hosted blog using wordpress.org, you might encounter this problem sometimes, it’s when this guide comes handy.

Here are some SEO tips you could use:
1. go to MyPageRank  and submit your site to many directory sites, though I’m pessimistic whether people still use web directories. There are also many other useful tools you could use to enchance your blog, try it by yourself.

2. Install All-in-one-SEO-pack for your blog. You could add meta tags for your individual posts. Kinda hard work but it’s useful

3. Find your blog keywords. Go to Adwords Keywords Tool and use the tool to generate meta keywords. Add the results to your meta tag. You might also want to experiment using foreign keywords such as japanese, chinese, arab, etc. Google Translate is your best friend if you need good translator.

4. Spread backlinks, make a comment, do link exchange with other bloggers. It will increase your pagerank.

5. Translate your blog into english, or create bilingual blog. It will also improve your english if you are non-native speakers. There is no words like “too late”, you could start anytime.

6. Submit sitemap to google. Sitemap is useful to help google crawling your blog. You could use the service provided by mypagerank.net. Use this plugin if you are using wordpress.

Try it by yourself and see if it could help increase your traffic

(Hampir) sebagian besar blogger mungkin familiar dengan SEO (Search Engine Optimization), namun ada juga yang mungkin masih belum tahu, apa sih SEO itu? Seperti arti namanya, teknik-teknik agar blog kita lebih optimal dalam penggunaan search engine. Kenapa blogger menggunakan teknik SEO? Tentu saja untuk menaikkan trafik dan mendapat tempat lebih tinggi di search result search engine.

Saya sendiri masih awam soal SEO, dan sejujurnya, agak malas untuk meng-SEO-kan blog ini lebih intensif lagi, soalnya saya sudah meng-SEO-kan blog ini beberapa bulan lalu, dan sejujurnya agak melelahkan. Saya mendapat terlalu banyak informasi sampai isi kepala ini overloaded, mudah-mudahan ini tidak terjadi pada anda.

Berikut ini adalah langkah-langkah SEO yang lakukan:
1. Pergi ke MyPageRank untuk mengsubmit blog saya ke berbagai directory di internet (walau saya pesimis ini ada artinya, memangnya hari gini masih ada yang pakai directory ya?). Situs ini sangat berguna untuk mengoptimalkan blog anda, saya sangat merekomendasikan anda untuk mengunjunginya dan melihat tool-tool lain yang disediakan. Mereka juga menyediakan script yang bisa ditaruh di widget anda untuk melihat pageviews, jumlah unique visitors, alexa pagerank, google pagerank, dll.

2. Menginstall All-in-one-SEO-pack untuk wordpress.org. Ini adalah plugin wajib untuk blog wordpress.org, soalnya plugin ini bisa memasang META keywords pada tiap postingan dan page, sehingga mengoptimalkan search engine untuk mengasosiasikan keywords dengan blog anda.

3. Mencari keywords blog anda. Salah satu tool sangat menarik dari google adalah Adwords Keywords Tool, dengan menggunakan keywords tool, kita bisa melihat keywords yang relevan dengan blog dan topik anda. Anda bisa memasukkan situs anda dan melihat kata kunci apa yang tepat dengan blog anda, dan yang kedua, anda bisa mencari tahu keywords dari topik yang anda ingin cari. Setelah anda mendapatkan kata kunci tersebut, save-lah ke komputer anda (atau kopi pes saja) ke META keywords yang disediakan All-in-one-SEO-pack. Anda mau lebih ekstrim lagi? Pergilah ke Google Translate, terjemahkan kata kunci yang anda inginkan ke bahasa-bahasa asing, lalu gunakan Adwords keywords tool, dan taruh keywords yang dihasilkan google ke META keywords anda. Saya memasukkan beberapa META keywords kanji china, jepang, rusia, itali, dan perancis pada beberapa halaman, tapi saya agak pesimis ini akan meningkatkan trafik pada blog saya, karena content blog saya tidak dalam bahasa tersebut.

Oh ya, untuk informasi tambahan, sifat xenophobic orang jepang juga tampaknya terbawa pada perilaku berinternet. Infoseek.co.jp, yahoo.co.jp, dan f2.com adalah tiga search engine yang paling banyak digunakan orang Jepang (walau akhir-akhir ini penggunaan google juga sudah mulai meningkat). Tapi intinya, anda harus menggunakan tulisan kanji agar bisa dicrawl oleh search engine Jepang. Pengguna internet China saat ini lebih banyak menggunakan Baidu untuk search engine mereka (mengalahkan google).

Anda mungkin bisa meng-generate keywords kanji mandarin sebelum berharap ada pengguna internet dari China mengunjungi blog anda. Oh ya, Baidu.com juga terkenal dengan tampilannya yang simpel dan mirip google. Mereka juga memiliki mp3 search engine yang sangat powerful, karena mereka juga bisa membaca tag yang tersimpan dalam mp3 tersebut. Saya menggunakannya beberapa kali, dan memang cukup bagus, sangat berguna untuk mencari lagu-lagu populer dan sedang ngehits. Intinya adalah, penggunaan keywords bahasa asing juga menarik untuk dicoba, tapi jangan berharap adanya peningkatan trafik yang signifikan, terlebih kalau content blog tersebut tidak memiliki bahasa asing yang ditaruh di META keywords.

4. Menebar backlink. Langkah keempat ini adalah langkah yang paling malas saya lakukan karena akhir-akhir ini saya agak jarang blogwalking. Saya cuma blogwalking ke blog teman-teman saya atau blog yang ada di RSS feeds. Menebar links bisa dilakukan tentu dengan cara meminta blog lain menaruh blog anda di blogroll mereka, dan ini akan meningkatkan pagerank google.

5. Menerjemahkan artikel-artikel blog ke bahasa inggris, yang ini cukup melelahkan dan saya sendiri sampai sekarang masih agak malas menerjemahkan isi blog ini ke bahasa inggris. Secara beberapa artikel ditulis dalam bahasa akademis )

6. Membuat sitemap dan mengsubmit-nya ke google. Sitemap ini seperti peta blog anda, berisi semua link blog, berguna untuk mengoptimalkan content yang di crawl oleh google. Anda bisa membuat sitemap melalui mypagerank.net kok

Saya mengalami peningkatan trafik yang cukup drastis dalam hitungan minggu, sampai-sampai saya harus pindah hostingan karena takut bandwidthnya habis. Yang paling terlihat sih dari peningkatan rank Alexa. Sebulan atau dua bulan lalu saya masih rank sekitar 2-3 juta, tapi sekarang sudah meningkat di sekitar 800 ribuan. Lumayan kan? Mengingat blog ini baru berumur 4 bulan-an.

Nah, moga-moga tips ini bisa berguna untuk mengoptimalkan blog dan meningkatkan trafik anda.

What’s the deal? Why should we use this service when our blog  could basically handle all the RSS feed by default? Basically, you could add interactivity to get more reader for your blog.

It’s called Feedcount, a widget provided from Feedburner. And there are more things to explore if you try the service by yourself.

Now what’s wrong with Feedburner? For unapparent reason, the service is errornous or I just couldn’t figure it out. I begin to doubt whether this service actually working as it’s supposed to be.

As you can see, the Feedcount counts only 10 reader (as march 18 2008), while my statpress in other hand has counted about… 780 and more subscriber (see image for detail)

Does anyone else experience this problem? It’s not really a big deal, since my blog traffic has been relatively high these days (180+ Unique visitors per day ). Most visitors come from Google search engine, but it would be nice If I could know the real number of my subscriber.

My comment? This is definitely spam. Akismet failed to filter this because they depend on hyperlinks carried by spammer. Just delete and don’t bother to answer them.

An appropriate representation of the requested resource /wp-admin/post.php could not be found on this server

I have read some help and fixes in internet, (this one is neat). Apparantly this happened because my webhost turning on ModSecurity-whatever-software which eventuallly causes this problem. All tutorials you find in internet and wordpress.org will usually give the same hints: add “SecFilterEngine off” to your .htaccess on wordpress root.

I have tried it several times,but still, instead of being fixed, now I’m getting 500 internal server error. Luckily I have my .htaccess backup so I could always restore the original file. (hint: backup your .htaccess first!)

I have tried to contact 000webhost to turn off that mod_security thingie on my blog, I hope the problem will be fixed an hours later. Anyway, have anyone encountered this before? Is there any alternative way to solve this problem?

EDIT: Apparantly, this post (yeah, the one you read right now) is editable. But this post is not, maybe because it uses a lot of Kanji?

EDIT: As stupid as it sounds, this all happens because 000webhost banned the keywords of rapidshare and megaupload to be written in any pages or posts! The solution is, just use tinyurl if you need to use any of them, or cloak it by using numeric characters. Oh geez, Maybe I will consider to move from this host if they have more banned words.
